Creative Challenge: Holiday Home Decor

The MFT Design Team Creative Challenge is a monthly feature, where we are challenged to explore our creative side using a specific theme, product, or technique. This month, we were challenged to create Holiday Home Decor using our MFT Stamps and Die-namics.  Be sure to check out the MFT Blog for a list of all participating designers who have a project to share with you today.

Months ago I intended on making a decorative canvas so I headed out to purchase a blank one from Hobby Lobby.  They sat.  They sat longer.  Then they sat some more.  Some plans just don't work out very well.  That is until the MFT Creative Challenge rolls around.  Snap!  I got my blank canvas (there's another naked one waiting for some decoration) and got to work.

I used the Fishtail Banner STAX Die-namics as a focal point.  I cut the letters out and adhered a black square to the back of each banner.  I like that the letters are dimensional, but it also ensures the letters aren't going to fall off once this gets packed away.

I used this grosgrain ribbon to hold each banner.  Hot glue and a little pleating allow the ribbon to accommodate each little flag.

I also wanted to include a little greeting for anyone who may look more closely at this canvas.  Another warm wish for the holiday was possible with the Seasonal Sentiments stamp set.  I embossed it to make it more professional.  A few of the little leaves from the Jumbo Stocking Die-namics dresses it up, too.

This is so pretty Megan!! I love the pleated ribbon. And I have plenty of things that are still sitting, purchased with the best of intentions.

So pretty. A great idea. I think we all have things we buy and they set & set & set until we get around to using them. I am glad you decided to use one of them for your project.

Oh my! What a beautiful canvas! Aren't you smart for cutting out the letters in your banner and putting CS behind the cut outs!!! Terrific idea!
